A Guide for Photographers and Storytellers

At the beginning of September 2021 in the street where I live, they started to work on the construction of the Tram Line, here in Berlin.

I wanted to follow the construction a bit more often than I did, and maybe stay every day there at a certain time into the morning taking photographs of the construction, the people, the changing of the environment, and so on.

I didn’t so constantly like in my imagination I wanted to do, for several reasons, or maybe just because I was not so motivated about it.

But instead, I collected some snapshots, so I have more or less around 200 pictures of the transformation. And the work is still in progress, so I’m continuing to shoot some more pictures.

I share with you that, because maybe you can be inspired by what is happening around you, and most of the time, these changes in the environment get not documented, you can build up real research and an amazing book reporting something happening just in front of you, while keep going day by day.

Most of the time, the best project, is not so distant from what surrounds us every day and is for sure your Unique Point of View.

Here below, are some pictures taken on the 1st of March in Moabit, Berlin, Germany.

Advice for Photographers or Storytellers:

  1. Pay attention to the changes happening around you, even if they seem small or mundane at first.
  2. Consider committing to a daily practice of documentation, whether it be through photography, writing, or other mediums.
  3. Don’t worry about having the perfect equipment or capturing the “perfect” shot. What’s important is documenting the process and transformation over time.
  4. Use your unique perspective and point of view to tell a compelling story about the transformation of your environment.
  5. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different styles or techniques to bring your story to life.

5 Photography Habits You Need to Unlearn

This text highlights five detrimental photography habits to unlearn. These include: neglecting immediate file backup after shoots; over-relying on camera’s automated settings; prioritizing quantity over quality in editing; reviewing and deleting photos during shoots; and over-reliance on post-production software to fix errors instead of learning proper photography techniques. The author suggests regular backup, manual camera use, quality oriented editing, avoiding in-session photo evaluation and not relying on post-production fixes.
